ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has set a deadline for political parties to submit their consolidated financial statements for the previous fiscal year.

Under the Election Act 2017 and Elections Rules 2017, political parties are mandated to provide their financial statements for the fiscal year concluding on June 30th by August 29th, 2023.

In accordance with Section 210 of the Elections Act, 2017, political parties must furnish the Commission with a consolidated audited financial statement within sixty days of the financial year’s closure. This comprehensive report, documented on Form-D, should encompass all financial transactions, fund sources, and asset-liability details.

Form-D, Funds Proforma Available on ECP Website

The report must also include an accountant’s audit report and a certificate signed by an authorized party member designated by the party head. This certificate confirms adherence to the Elections Act 2017, ensuring no funds were received from prohibited sources and affirming the accuracy of financial details.

Submissions should be made using Form-D, readily available at no charge at Election Commission Secretariat in Islamabad and provincial election commissioners’ offices. The Commission has also made Form-D and the source of funds proforma accessible on its official website.

The ECP emphasizes precision and discourages overwriting, requesting the attachment of an Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) membership or certificate for the engaged Auditor along with the latest renewal certificate. Form-D should include clear copies of bank statements from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023, and a bank reconciliation statement.
