JEDDAH: The Saudi Press Agency has stated that the Saudi Railway Company had qualified 32 women to be drivers under the Haramain Express Train Leaders Programme.
Women were proud to work in this profession, with Tharaa Ali Al-Zahrani stating that she submitted her application as soon as the polytechnic posted job openings in January. After a personal interview and test, she was hired as one of the first group of Saudi female train conductors.
She continued by saying that Vision 2030’s increased emphasis had aided in realizing her desire to serve her country and that it was advantageous that accepted students had received both theoretical and practical training in safety and security systems as well as the opportunity to drive trains as trainee conductors.
Express Train project
According to Rotella Yasser Najjar, the leadership gave Saudi women a chance. It made it possible for them to engage in a variety of roles to serve the nation, including the Haramain Express Train project, which caters to both Hajj and Umrah pilgrims as well as tourists to the Grand Mosque.
Raneem Talal Azouz expressed her sense of responsibility as a train conductor and praised the institute’s trainers for their ongoing support in preparing women for careers in this industry and helping them through several challenges at work.
She added that one of the main reasons she worked on the Haramain train was to serve pilgrims and tourists who came to the holy city.
