ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has once again strongly condemned the desecration of the holy Quran in Sweden and the Netherlands, terming it an action that reflected the Islamophobic mindset.
Speaking at a weekly news briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that Pakistan alongside other Islamic countries has conveyed its concerns to Sweden and the Netherlands over the disparaging incident and the desecration of the holy Quran.
Pakistan to continue support Kashmiris
The FO spokesperson said that Pakistan will continue its unstinted moral, political and diplomatic support to the people of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir in their quest for self-determination in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.
Referring to a recently released documentary by the BBC on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s role in the Gujarat massacre of 2002, she said that the BBC has exposed the Indian prime minister’s atrocities during those riots.
Referring to the situation in Afghanistan, the spokesperson stressed the need for peace and stability in the neighbouring country.
“We underscore our desire to work closely with regional states to continuously and practically engage with the interim Afghan government on countering terrorism and to help avert humanitarian crisis in the war-torn country,” she said.
Talking about the visit of the Russian Special Representative for Afghanistan to Pakistan, Ambassador Zamir Kabulov, she said that during the Russian envoy’s tour, both countries reiterated their commitment to work closely to further enhance coordination and cooperation in promoting peace, stability as well as economic development in Afghanistan.
She added that Pakistan and Russia also agreed to continue engagement both bilaterally and on regional forums.
