ISLAMABAD: The claims made by separatist factions regarding religious extremism and cultural suppression in Balochistan represent a distortion of Pakistan’s policies and realities.

Pakistan’s position on the Baloch separatist issue reflects a commitment to national unity and sovereignty, countering unfounded allegations with a focus on peace and development.

Firstly, Pakistan acknowledges the complexities and challenges of its regional dynamics, including the situation in Balochistan. However, the government firmly rejects accusations of religious extremism being systematically imposed on the Baloch people.

The state has consistently sought to integrate Balochistan into the national framework through inclusive policies and development initiatives, aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of the region.

The Centre for Gender Justice and Women Empowerment’s letter to the United Nations misrepresents the ideological basis of the nation, which was founded on significant sacrifices.

The narrative of economic exploitation and cultural suppression lacks contextual understanding. Balochistan, like other regions of Pakistan, benefits from federal development projects designed to boost infrastructure, healthcare, and education. These efforts are intended to uplift the local population and promote economic growth, rather than marginalize or exploit any community.

Assertions that Pakistan’s education system promotes a distorted history and fosters religious extremism are misleading. Educational reforms in Pakistan aim to create a balanced and inclusive curriculum that respects the diverse cultural and historical backgrounds of its citizens. This curriculum is designed to foster national unity while honoring regional identities and traditions.

Moreover, the Baloch resistance, while claiming to uphold cultural and historical authenticity, often overlooks the government’s initiatives to engage with local leaders and address grievances through dialogue and development programs. The focus remains on creating a peaceful environment where all communities, including the Baloch, can thrive within the framework of a unified nation.
