Son’s tribute to his mother on her death anniversary
Benazir’s son, who is the current PPP Chairman and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, and other party officials will address the event in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh. In a video message on Twitter, Bilawal paid tribute to his late mother and said that he had reached Larkana to observe her death anniversary.
Benazir Bhutto was killed on December 27, 2007 in a gunfire and bomb attack which also claimed the lives of 20 party workers and injured dozens of others. The attack took place as she was preparing to leave the venue after giving a speech. The fearless politician was taken to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. The high-profile murder still remains unresolved one and a half decades later.
Benazir was the first woman leader of a Muslim nation in modern history. She served two terms as prime minister of Pakistan, once from 1988 to 1990 and then from 1993 to 1996.
