Committees to Assess Damages After Rain in Makkah

JEDDAH: Saudi officials said on Friday that committees have been set up by the Civil Defense General Directorate to assess the damage caused by recent rain in Makkah.

The Civil Defense General Directorate said that affected people can submit applications in the committees. Officials of the Civil Defense General Directorate told the media that no death or injuries were reported during the torrential rains in the holy city. However, images and videos shared on social media showed rainwater washing away vehicles and cars in the city.

Officials of Crisis Management also issued an advisory and asked the residents to avoid unnecessary travel in the city. It further asked the people not to visit the localities where rainwater accumulates to ensure their safety.
