China Suggests Two-state Solution as Israel Continues Bombarding Gaza

LAHORE: Chinese Consul General in Lahore, Zhao Shiren, reaffirmed China’s unwavering stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, emphasizing the importance of a two-state solution amid Gaza conflict.

Zhao Shiren’s remarks underscored the clarity of China’s position on the long-standing conflict in Gaza, Palestine. He stressed that, historically, the land belongs to the Palestinians, and they possess the rightful claim to establish an autonomous state in the Middle East. China’s support for this fundamental principle aligns with the broader international consensus on a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Furthermore, Zhao Shiren emphasized China’s strong opposition to the use of force against civilians and the loss of human lives in any conflict. He stressed the urgent need for international mediation to find a peaceful resolution to the ongoing Israel-Gaza conflict. China’s advocacy for peaceful negotiation and respect for human rights reflects its commitment to stability and justice in the region.

Regarding the return of PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif to Pakistan, the Chinese diplomat maintained that this matter falls within the realm of Pakistan’s internal affairs, and China abstains from interfering in such issues. However, he expressed China’s desire for free and fair elections in Pakistan and the unity of all political forces and stakeholders to facilitate the country’s development and the success of projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Zhao Shiren also expressed his puzzlement over the opposition to CPEC and the strong bilateral ties between Islamabad and Beijing. He reiterated China’s commitment to fostering a collaborative partnership for mutual development and regional stability, highlighting the significance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor as a transformative initiative for the entire region.
