NEW YORK: Hollywood actors Channing Tatum and his ex-wife Jenna Dewan have finalized their divorce, more than six years after announcing their separation in 2018.
The couple, who first met on the set of their film “Step Up” in 2006, had a relationship marked by both love and legal disputes surrounding their shared ventures.
Tatum and Dewan tied the knot in 2009 and welcomed their daughter, Everly, in 2013. However, their marriage came to an end in April 2018 when they publicly announced their separation.
Since then, they have navigated a complicated divorce process, which included disagreements over finances and the popular “Magic Mike” franchise.
The former couple’s legal battle intensified when Dewan’s legal team accused Tatum of hiding assets, a claim he vehemently denied.
The dispute over the “Magic Mike” franchise became a significant point of contention, with Dewan’s lawyers arguing that the franchise was developed and financed with marital funds during their marriage.
Dewan sought a share of the intellectual property from the franchise, which Tatum starred in and co-produced.
After years of negotiations, the couple has now reached a binding judgment, effectively resolving their disputes without the need for a trial that was set to take place in December.
It is noteworthy that a court had previously declared Tatum and Dewan legally single in 2019, allowing them to pursue new relationships. In 2023, Tatum became engaged to actress Zoe Kravitz, who directed him in the upcoming film “Blink Twice.”
Meanwhile, Dewan got engaged to her former co-star Steve Kazee in 2020, and the couple has welcomed two children together.
The “Magic Mike” franchise, which began with the original film directed by Steven Soderbergh in 2012, has been a major success, grossing over $160 million against a modest $7 million budget.
It spawned two sequels, “Magic Mike XXL” and “Magic Mike’s Last Dance,” both of which were also well-received at the box office. The franchise has further expanded with an HBO reality series titled “Finding Magic Mike,” as well as live shows in London and Las Vegas.
