Captive-bred Olive ridley sea turtle hatchlings (Lepidochelys olivacea) are released at El Jiote Beach in the Jutiapa department, Guatemala. “Last year, around 250,000 eggs were laid and approximately 230,000 hatchlings were released. This year, we estimate that these numbers will likely double,” says Marlon Chilin, Coastal Marine Technician of the National Council of Protected Areas.
