Brazil’s Ministry of Defense and army did not immediately issue any comment over the development. Earlier, President Lula said that his country intelligence services including Army failed on January, 8 when buildings of Congress and Supreme Court in Brasilia were attacked by supporters of far-right ex-President Jair Bolsonaro.
General Arruda had attended a meeting with President Lula on Friday, accompanied by the heads of the navy, and air force. Defense Minister of Brazil told media persons after the meeting that the riots were not the main discussion topic, but said that any involvement of military officials in the riots would be punished.
