Two killed in landslide, rain in Brazil

BRASILIA: At least two people have been killed due to a landslide in the southern Brazilian state of Parana, US media reported on Wednesday. Officials said that dozens of people went missing after the landslide.

According to officials, the landslide, and heavy rains in the area also affected Brazil’s highway.  Officials told the media that mud buried as many as six trailers and fifteen vehicles in the affected areas.

Another official, who is working in the fire department said that they feared as many as fifty people went missing after the recent landslide and heavy rains. He said that firefighters, military police, civil defense teams, and rescue staff are taking part in the rescue operation to assist the people in the area.

500 houses were damaged in Brazil

Officials said that the heavy rains also caused the flood in coastal parts of Parana. They said that 680 people were affected while more than 500 houses were damaged due to the landslide and rains.
