LAHORE, Pakistan: England’s opener Ben Duckett etched his name into ICC Champions Trophy history, setting a new record for the highest individual score in the tournament’s history during the Group B clash against Australia at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Saturday.
Duckett smashed a stunning 165 runs from just 142 balls, surpassing the legendary Nathan Astle of New Zealand, who previously held the record for the highest individual score and the first instance of a batter reaching 150 in the tournament’s history.
With a remarkable exhibition of power and precision, Duckett’s innings featured a breathtaking 17 boundaries and three towering sixes before he was finally caught by Marnus Labuschagne in the 48th over.
