ISLAMABAD: In a statement, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism has said that from 21 January to 5 February Beijing will host the annual spring festival which will witness 4,000 cultural events.
The bureau further said that the activities at the event include art performances and exhibitions, intangible cultural heritage, temple fairs, free film screenings, lantern fairs, and flower displays.
Over 1,600 performances at Beijing’s Spring Festival
As many as 104 venues across the Chinese capital will stage 244 plays which will have a total of 1,687 performances during the whole duration of the festival.
There will be stalls of traditional brand businesses together with those showcasing intangible cultural heritage who will present 46 events. Other performances will feature dance, a New Year goods festival, interactive exhibitions, and handwork fairs.
This year the Chinese Lunar New Year is falling on 22 January and will be followed by the Lantern Festival which will begin on 5 February.
