BEIJING: The delegations from 90 countries and international organizations are likely to attend the tenth Beijing Xiangshan Security Dialogue, which will start on Sunday.

Cynthia Xanthi Carras, a senior official with the US Office of the Secretary of Defense, had registered to attend the forum.

The organizers said that the 2-day annual meeting would encourage the voices of developing nations.

Initiated in 2006, the Beijing Xiangshan Forum adheres to the ideas of “Equality, Openness, Inclusiveness, Mutual Learning” and has developed into one of the key security dialogues in the world.

The Chinese Ministry of Defense said that under the theme of “Common Security, Lasting Peace,” the forum will address the priorities of cooperation in the Global Security Initiative and give equal opportunities for all parties to voice their opinions, highlighting security challenges, pursuing security solutions, and advancing security cooperation.

Security Dialogue Sessions

The forum has four plenary sessions, titled “Responsibilities of Major Countries and Global Security Cooperation,” “Asia-Pacific Security Architecture: Present and Future,” “Role of Developing Countries in Global Security,” and “Regional Security and Development: Path and Goal,” and 8 simultaneous special sessions. A Young Officers and Scholars Seminar and other activities would also be organized.

The ministry said that official delegates, global organizations, and renowned experts and scholars at home and abroad have already confirmed their attendance.
