NAGOYA, Japan: Pakistan’s Ghulam Mustafa Bashir won a bronze medal in the men’s 25 metres rapid-fire pistol event at the 2026 Asian Games after delivering a strong performance in a tense eight-man final on Thursday.
Bashir finished third at the Aichi Prefecture General Shooting Gallery with a score of 22 points, securing Pakistan’s place on the podium in the continental competition.
The medal marked Bashir’s first Asian Games medal and Pakistan’s second shooting medal in Asian Games history. Kishmala Talat had previously won bronze for Pakistan at the Hangzhou Asian Games.
Lee claims gold after shoot-off
South Korea’s Lee Gunhyeok claimed the gold medal after scoring 32 points in the final, defeating China’s Su Lianbofan in a shoot-off.
Su also finished with 32 points but settled for silver after the tie-break decision.

Vietnam’s Pham Quang Huy finished fourth with 20 points, followed by Indonesia’s Suteja Dewa Putu Yadi in fifth with 18.
South Korea’s Yoon Seoyeong placed sixth with 12 points, while India’s Anish finished seventh with 11. Kazakhstan’s Nikita Chiryukin completed the final standings in eighth place with seven points.
Bashir holds nerve in final
Bashir had qualified for the final after finishing sixth in the second qualification stage with 578 points, including 19 inner tens (X).
The Olympian shooter was among the eight competitors who advanced from the qualification round after a strong showing against Asia’s leading rapid-fire pistol shooters.
Lee’s victory saw him equal the Asian record of 32 points in the final, highlighting the high level of competition in the event.
Bashir’s bronze added another medal to Pakistan’s campaign at the Asian Games and marked a memorable achievement for the experienced shooter.
