ISLAMABAD/BANNU: During the search operation by Bannu police, the two attackers who threw grenades and opened fire at a local police van in Khyber-Pakthtunkhwa (KP) district, Bannu, were killed in a police encounter on Monday.

According to the police, both terrorists were found hiding out in a house in Landi Jalandhar. They had killed a policeman and wounded another in the attack on Saturday.
SHO of Dumel police station Gul Muhammad, was on a routine patrol with his team when he signalled the two men on a motorcycle to stop.
The armed suspects lobbed the hand grenade and opened fire using automatic weapons on the police officials.
Resultantly, Pasham Khan’s head constable was hit by bullets and died on the spot, while constable Shah Wali Khan sustained wounds. The incident took place within the limits of the Township police station in Bannu. The police immediately shifted the dead and injured personnel to the DHQ hospital.
As soon as the incident was reported, township police and other law enforcement forces reached the spot and started chasing attackers. The Bannu police had cordoned off the entire town and had launched a door-to-door search to arrest the attackers who had fled the scene.
