DUBAI, UAE: Babar Azam, Abdullah Shafique, and Mohammad Ali headlined a major rankings surge for Pakistan on Wednesday, as the ICC unveiled the latest Test player ratings following a fiercely contested two-match series against the West Indies that finished 1-1.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam, crowned Player of the Series for his 193 runs, was the chief architect of the batting revival, climbing five places to reclaim the 10th spot with 716 points.

He was ably supported by opener Abdullah Shafique, who made a triumphant return to the Test side by smashing a century in the second game, catapulting himself 25 places up to 32nd with 607 points.
Bowling breakthroughs: Mohammad Ali shines, debutant stuns
On the bowling front, it was Mohammad Ali who stole the limelight. The pacer, who finished as the series’ leading wicket-taker with nine scalps, made an eight-place jump to 85th.
However, the most dramatic leap belonged to debutant spinner Ali Usman, who defied his inexperience to climb a staggering 58 positions, landing at 97th in the bowling charts.

Mixed fortunes for Pakistan’s batting mainstays
While the trio celebrated significant gains, other batting stalwarts endured a dip. Saud Shakeel slid two spots to 26th, Mohammad Rizwan dropped one place to 27th, Salman Ali Agha fell six places to 38th, and former captain Shan Masood slipped three places to 39th.
Left-handed opener Imam-ul-Haq also lost ground, falling four places to 57th, while Aamer Jamal managed a solitary one-place rise to 99th.

Bowlers’ shuffle: Noman drops, Sajid rises
In the bowling department, spinner Noman Ali dropped one place to eighth with 800 points, while Mohammad Abbas slipped to 18th.
Shaheen Afridi held steady at 29th, Sajid Khan climbed five places to 30th following his eight-wicket haul, and Khurram Shahzad inched up one spot to 51st. Aamer Jamal fell one position to 82nd in the bowling list.

Global leaders hold firm
At the summit of the batting rankings, Australia’s Travis Head remains the world’s number one Test batter, with England duo Harry Brook and Joe Root occupying second and third positions, respectively.
Meanwhile, India’s Jasprit Bumrah continues to lead the bowling chart, followed by New Zealand’s Matt Henry and Australia’s Mitchell Starc in second and third.
