BEIJING: Australia has extended an invitation to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi for a visit in late March, local media reported on Thursday. According to the South China Morning Post, they will likely to discuss various topics including trade, and security during the visit.   The talks are expected to discuss bilateral trade, Australia’s AUKUS security alliance with the United States and Britain, a new science and technology agreement, and the matter of Australian writer Yang Hengjun.

Wang is scheduled to spend a day in Canberra and another day in Sydney during his visit, which marks his first since 2017.  This visit comes a few months after Australian Prime Minister’s visit to China in November, which contributed to easing tensions in bilateral relations.

However, both countries’ foreign ministries did not issue any statement over the development.
