ISLAMABAD: At least 26 terrorists were killed in “precise and calibrated strikes” carried out by Pakistan along the Afghanistan border, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said on Wednesday, adding that the operations targeted hideouts and safe havens of planners and facilitators behind recent terrorist incidents in the country.

According to a statement posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the minister said the strikes were conducted in the aftermath of multiple attacks, including the assault on a Federal Constabulary post in Musa Dara on June 9, 2026, vehicle-borne suicide attacks on a military installation in North Waziristan on June 2, 2026, and an attack on a police station in Bannu on May 9, 2026.

The post shared by the minister stated: “In the aftermath of recent terrorist incidents in Pakistan, including terrorist attack on Federal Constabulary Post in Musa Dara on 9 June 2026, Vehicle Borne Suicide Attacks on a Military Post in North Waziristan on 2 June 2026 and Police Station in Bannu on 9 May 2026, precise and calibrated Strikes were carried out along Pakistan Afghanistan Border areas on hideouts and safe havens of masterminds and planners belonging to Fitna Al Khwarij, killing twenty six Indian sponsored khwarijs.”

He further stated that, based on credible intelligence, selective targeting of camps and hideouts was carried out with precision and accuracy, resulting in the destruction of four key targets.

These included a training centre, a hideout, an ammunition cache, and marakiz associated with commanders Aleem Khan Khushali and Akhtar Muhammad Jani Khel.

The statement added that Pakistan has consistently sought to maintain peace and stability in the region, stressing that the safety and security of citizens remains the government’s top priority.

It further reiterated that the ongoing counter-terrorism drive under the national framework “Azm-e-Istehkam”, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, will continue at full pace in order to eliminate what it described as foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country.

A screengrab shared on X showed before-and-after imagery of a targeted facility along the Pak-Afghan border following the overnight strikes on June 9–10, 2026, depicting extensive destruction at the site used by terrorists.

Meanwhile, Syed Muhammad Ali, an Islamabad based security analyst said that “Pakistan has no incentive, reason or benefit from targeting unarmed women, children or elderly people.”

“Pakistan only carefully retaliates against those terrorist hideouts and camps which are directly involved in planning, organising and supporting terrorist attacks against Pakistan, “ Ali said while explaining Pakistan’s targeting policy.

He said these precision strikes are carefully planned and conducted based on credible intelligence, which on many occasions has been shared with Afghan Taliban regime.

He said this lawful retaliation against terrorists by Pakistan to defend its sovereignty and national security will continue till Kabul can verifiably demonstrate its will and tangible actions against regional and global terrorist organization, based in Afghanistan, which is a source of global concern not just Pakistan.
