CAIRO: Arab Ministers have stressed the need for political dialogue as they believe that it is the only option for solving the Syrian crisis.
The meeting held in Cairo late Tuesday had participants making a joint communique that the solution to the current human crisis in Syria is following the constitutional path and that the Syrian Committee in Oman should work in coordination with United Nations in the upcoming meeting scheduled to be held before the year ends.
The access granted by Syrian authorities to address humanitarian assistance to people in need from international donors was also welcomed by the group with the hope that this access to assistance will stay open to serve people who need help.
The ministers also lauded the agreement between Syrian authorities and United Nations signed on August 7 about the delivery of aid from Bab-al-Hawa Crossing for six months. Syria has also allowed access from Bab-al-Salam and Al-Raei crossings till November.
The meeting had the presence of Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan besides Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon and Syrian counterparts along with Arab League Secretary-General, Ahmed Aboul Gheit.
Addressing the refugee crisis was given maximum priority and the need was stressed to boost cooperation between nations hosting Syrian nationals with the coordination of the United Nation High Commissioner for Refugees.
The announcements will be made periodically for facilitating the refugees along with the United Nations in their repatriation besides presidential pardons.
The official from the Syrian government urged the enhanced role of Arab nations and their involvement in resolving the Syrian crisis.
The meeting was follow-up of Amman Communique which occurred in May.
The meeting also stressed the need for combating terrorism and cross-border drug trafficking as not long ago a narcotics ring was also dismantled by Syria and Jordan authorities.
