SRINAGAR: As the world is observing United Nations Day, on Thursday, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has reiterated the immediate need for the execution of UN resolutions on Kashmir.

On the UN’s 79th anniversary, APHC spokesperson Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas expressed concerns regarding the organization’s credibility, and highlighting New Delhi’s current disregard for UNSC resolutions on the Kashmir issue.

“It is time for the world forum to exercise its authority and implement its resolutions on Kashmir,” he added and also emphasized that the unresolved Kashmir issue raises significant questions regarding the UN’s effectiveness. He also asserted, “United Nations Day serves as a reminder that the issue of Kashmir remains on the agenda despite over 7 decades of inaction.”

Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas also called for unwavering international support for the people of Kashmir, asking the United Nations to fulfill its obligation about their right to self-determination. He also noted that United Nations resolutions explicitly uphold the Kashmiris’ right to a free and fair referendum.

The spokesperson also criticized the actions of the Modi regime since August 5, 2019, asserting that they violate established United Nations resolutions concerning Jammu and Kashmir.

He also stressed that the Kashmir issue is the oldest issue on the UNSC’s agenda, necessitating immediate action from the United Nations.

“Resolving the dispute of Kashmir as per the UN resolutions is vital for peace and stability in South Asian region,” Minhas said, calling for renewed global attention to the plight of the people of Kashmir.
