ISLAMABAD: An officer was injured when two teams of Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) came under fire in Peshawar and Rawalpindi, reported local media on Sunday.
Drug smugglers opened fire on the Anti-Narcotics Force teams during raids resulting in injuries to an officer. He received a bullet in his arm in Dhok Munshiyan area in Rawalpindi. The police conducted the raid in Rawalpindi to arrest drug-trafficker who goes by single name of Khan and who used to supply drugs to youth through Facebook. As the force personnel raided, the accused opened fire on the ANF team injuring one officer. Lance Naik Moeen was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.
ANF operation in Peshawar
In another incident in Peshawar, an ANF vehicle was shot at on Nasir Bagh Road area. No ANF official was injured in the firing. After the force retaliated, the drug-smugglers fled from the scene, leaving behind their vehicle. The accused were reportedly proclaimed offenders and were wanted by the Force in several cases.
During the search, the ANF personnel seize 10kg heroin and 10kg ice drug from their vehicle. An ANF spokesman said that efforts were underway to arrest the culprits.
