LAHORE: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has approached the Supreme Court against the Lahore High Court decision to acquit Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Hanif Abbasi in the ephedrine quota case.
The Lahore High Court had overturned the life imprisonment of the PML-N central leader initially awarded by a trial court on October 18.
Ephedrine Quota Case Registered in 2012
The ANF had sought time from the Supreme Court to prepare and produce documents. The ANF has been granted 14 days by the Supreme Court Registrar’s office to prepare and gather relevant case documents.
The ephedrine quota case, in which Abbasi was accused of the misuse of 500kg of ephedrine, was registered in 2012 under sections 9-C, 14, and 15 of the Control of Narcotics Substances (CNS) Act.
