American Woman Subjected to Maltreatment for Canceling Hubby’s US Visa

JHELUM, PAKISTAN: An American woman of Pakistani origin was allegedly subjected to torture and ill-treatment by her in-laws in Jhelum city when she cancelled her husband’s USA visa, on Monday.

Police officials said her in-laws beat up the American national. They registered a case against the accused on her complaint. Victim Maryam Bibi said that she was severely tortured by her in-laws. She said that her clothes were ripped during her scuffle with her in-laws. She alleged that they locked her and her 2-year-old daughter inside a room and tried to set on fire the room.

American woman alleges in-laws snatched $7,000

The American woman alleged that her husband, father-in-law, and other relatives snatched $7,000 and her mobile phone. Maryam said her in-laws were furious because she cancelled her husband’s USA visa because of their behaviour. The victim claimed that neighbours came to the rescue and saved her and her daughter from her in-laws. Police said that they would arrest the accused as early as possible.
