Cabinet Selection Process
Caretaker Prime Minister Kakar has meticulously considered potential candidates for his cabinet, reportedly omitting Hafeez Shaikh and Reza Baqir from running for the coveted finance minister position. Both were in office during the onset of the current economic crisis, which witnessed soaring inflation and interest rates.
Initially, Sultan Ali Allana, a prominent banker and Habib Bank chairman, was selected for the finance ministry, but his dual nationality came to light, prompting a reevaluation. Jalil Abbas Jilani, a former foreign secretary and ambassador to the United States, is anticipated to take on the role of Minister for Foreign Affairs.
Syed Muhammad Ali, not Muhammad Ali Durrani as previously speculated, is expected to lead the Information Ministry. Furthermore, Senator Safraz Bugti, a seasoned politician and former Balochistan home minister, is projected to assume the post of Interior Minister within the caretaker setup.
