LONDON: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Mian Nawaz Sharif has left Dubai for London with a scheduled stopover in Italy as Pakistan awaits a caretaker set-up.
Nawaz had been involved in consultations with different political leaders, including Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto of the PPP in connection with a caretaker set-up in the country.
Nawaz left Dubai after spending a considerable time there and during the time, he remained actively involved in decision-making. He will reach London after staying some days in Italy.
As the PML-N supremo is busy in consultation and brainstorming with his own party leaders as well as other bigwigs of the country on different political issues, he has repeatedly visited UAE for meetings.
Huddles in Dubai
In June, the three-time prime minister visited Dubai and stayed at the Emirates Hill residence of former finance minister Ishaq Dar’s son and Sharif’s son-in-law Ali Dar who is married to Asma Sharif, the younger sister of Maryam Nawaz. There, he held important meetings with the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and PML-N chief organizer Maryam Nawaz, in which the possibilities of his return to Pakistan were discussed. The discussions were particularly focused on resolving legal issues that could prevented his return.
During his stay in Dubai in June, he also held several meetings with Pakistan Peoples Party Co-chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari and discussed the political and economic situation of the country.
In the first week of July, Nawaz Sharif along with Maryam Nawaz visited Saudi Arabia from UAE, where he held several meetings with the important personalities of the royal family and investors as well as business delegations.
Nawaz Sharif arrived in Dubai again on 23 July, where he discussed the dissolution of the National Assembly, caretaker set-up and general elections, besides other important matters, with the PPP leadership Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
In the last week of July, Sharif along with his family left Dubai for Europe where they reportedly visited Italy, Germany and Switzerland. After completing a week-long visit, he returned to London, but again landed in Dubai last week.
Nawaz Sharif was expected to return to Pakistan during the tenure of the Shehbaz government but he preferred to stay in London, Dubai and now he has returned back to London with his supporters waiting for him in Pakistan.
It is likely that Pakistan will get a new set-up within days of the dissolution of the national assembly.
