ISLAMABAD: The National University of Medical Sciences (NUMS) will conduct the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) for admission to MBBS/BDS programs both nationally and internationally in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates tomorrow on Sunday.
The MDCAT is being held for admission to 13 medical and dental schools. The Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) decided last month that students applying for admission to these colleges this year are no longer required to take any additional exams. For NUMS 2022, the name of the test was changed from NUMS Entry Test (NET) to MDCAT. According to Brig. Muhammed Azhar (Ret.), the university’s registrar, all applicants for the MBBS and BDS programs must get passing marks of 55% and 45%, respectively, to pass the exam.
70,000 students from Pakistan will take the test to compete for 2,075 seats at various exam centers. Of all the candidates, 23,641 males and 46,582 female students have submitted admissions forms. The MDCAT result for NUMS is expected to be released in two to three weeks, according to the registrar. NUMS MBBS/BDS Session 2022 will be held In 20 different cities including the Islamabad, four provincial capitals, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and NUMS centers in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
NUMS has already deployed trained staff at its examination centers and has completed the arrangements to conduct the MDCAT in a transparent way. At the NUMS Secretariat, a separate control room has been set up to keep track of and communicate with all the testing sites in real time. The candidates have been asked by NUMS to be at their respective exam centers two hours prior to the start of the test, along with the necessary documentation.
