RIYADH: The US envoy to Sudan, John Godfrey, on Friday arrived in Jeddah to resume dialogue efforts between Sudan’s Army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

In a statement via his social media account, the envoy said, “Pleased to have been back in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to consult with its partners on efforts related to Sudan,”.

According to Arab News, Riyadh, and Washington announced the suspension of the Jeddah dialogue between the warring parties to the crisis in Sudan early last month due to the repeated “grave violations” of the truce by the RSF and the army in the African country.

Earlier, the Sudanese army said that its delegation to the Jeddah dialogue had returned to the country on Wednesday for discussions, with a willingness to continue talks after “overcoming the hindrances.”
