Iraqi President and Jordanian PM Discuss Bilateral Ties and Cooperation

AMMAN: Iraqi President Abdul Latif Rashid and Jordanian Prime Minister Bisher Khasawneh met on Tuesday to discuss bilateral ties and cooperation between the two nations. During the meeting, Khasawneh conveyed the greetings of King Abdullah II and expressed well wishes for the president’s continued good health and prosperity for the Iraqi people.

The prime minister highlighted several ongoing Jordanian-Iraqi projects, including the economic zone, the industrial city, and the development of the oil pipeline from Basra to Aqaba. These projects are being implemented at both the bilateral level and within the framework of the tripartite cooperation mechanism involving Jordan, Iraq, and Egypt.

Role of Jordanian-Iraqi Business Council

Khasawneh emphasized the importance of the private sector and the role of the Jordanian-Iraqi Business Council in expanding trade and investment between the two nations.

Furthermore, the prime minister praised Iraq’s policies regarding security and stability and commended the agreement between Jordan and Iraq to deepen security cooperation within a regional framework that includes anti-narcotics measures.

President Rashid stressed the longstanding relations between Iraq and Jordan and highlighted how Iraq’s stability and security have paved the way for progress in the development process and created opportunities for investment in various vital industries.

Both leaders discussed the significance of capitalizing on the economic, trade, and investment successes achieved by the two countries.
