GCC—Central Asia Summit in KSA Today

JEDDAH: The Gulf Cooperation Council-Central Asian countries summit and the 18th GCC Supreme Council consultative meeting will take place here Today (Wednesday).

A day earlier, Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet welcomed leaders participating in the meetings as they wished them success in promoting solidarity and cooperation for the benefit of the two regions.

The president of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and president of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon arrived in Jeddah on Tuesday. Both are visiting the country to participate in the summit of the Gulf Cooperation Council-Central Asian countries that will take place today. Upon arrival, they were both received by the deputy governor of the Makkah region Prince Badr bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz.

Meanwhile, the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited Madinah and prayed in the Prophet’s Mosque ahead of the summit. He then also traveled to Jeddah.

The President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow and the President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov also arrived in Jeddah a day earlier.

From the GCC side, the special representative of the sultan of Oman Sayyid Asaad bin Tariq Al-Said was received on arrival in Jeddah.

A day earlier, the Saudi cabinet commended the signing of several agreements between the Kingdom and Turkiye in various fields. They also lauded the launch of the Lighthouse Initiative between the Kingdom and Japan for cooperation in clean energy. Japan’s PM Kishida and Turkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited the country on Saturday and Monday, respectively, and met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah.

The ministers affirmed Kingdom’s keenness to consolidate economic cooperation with various countries by continuing the exchange of visits between business owners and stimulating the government and private sectors.
