ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) anti-corruption wing Islamabad on Saturday arrested two people during raids on two illegal power transformer workshops. Valuable items including copper and oil being stolen from WAPDA transformers were also recovered from the workshops.
According to FIA spokesperson, the culprits were involved in stealing valuable copper and oil from WAPDA transformers and illegally storing these items at their workshops. The spokesperson claimed that some of the WAPDA officials are also involved by facilitating the culprits.
WAPDA was being financially damaged by selling the stolen copper and oil at high prices in the market. 23 transformers, precious oil and copper besides non-standard oil and silver coils were recovered from the spot.
According to details, FIA has registered separate cases against both the workshops’ owners and launched investigation into the matter. Five WAPDA officials named in the cases.
