DOHA: UN chief Antonio Guterres has lauded the US, Egypt, Lebanon, and Qatar for their roles in reaching of truce between the Islamic Jihad movement in Gaza, and Israel, Arab media reported on Monday. The UN Secretary-General welcomed the ceasefire and asked all parties to honor its provisions.

The UN top official conveyed his deep condolences to the families of victims, noting that the hostilities in the region led to unfounded human suffering.
He also reaffirmed the United Nations’ resolve to achieve a two-state solution based on the UN resolutions, previous deals, and international law. The UN chief also highlighted the significance of reinstating the political horizon and putting an end to sequences of crisis and conflict.
