LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee chairman Najam Sethi is in Dubai today (Tuesday) to meet with members of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) and discuss the upcoming Asia Cup.

According to media reports, the next 48 hours have been declared critical for major advancement in the Asia Cup 2023.

The Asian Cricket Council has yet to announce the final meeting date. Najam Sethi will hold an informal meeting with council officials, which will be attended by no representatives from the council’s member countries.

Asia Cup in September

The Asia Cup will be played in Pakistan in September. The PCB is associating all Asia Cup rumors with Indian media propaganda. Because of India’s reluctance, the PCB has proposed a hybrid Asia Cup model.

Matches against India will be played at a neutral site under the hybrid model, while the rest matches will be played in Pakistan.

According to sources, Pakistan is unwilling to hold the Asia Cup at a neutral venue, and the ACC has rejected the idea of a hybrid model. The PCB, on the other hand, has begun backdoor diplomacy in relation to the Asia Cup.

The PCB is in contact with the cricket boards of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. So far, the cricket boards of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have not rejected the Asia Cup hybrid model. The PCB will also use diplomacy to take advantage of the remaining matches with Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in the current FTP through diplomacy.

The PCB, on the other hand, desires the Afghanistan Cricket Board’s support because of the last Afghanistan series. However, the situation will become obvious after Najam Sethi’s meeting with Asian Cricket Council members today (Tuesday).
