LAHORE: Karachi Kings have handed a 181 runs target to Lahore Qalandars during the 30th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) being played at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Sunday.
Right-handed opener Muhammad Akhlaq struck a magnificent half-century on debut before Imad Wasim’s blistering 45 propelled Karachi Kings to 196/7 against Lahore Qalandars in the last group fixture of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season eight.
Earlier, Karachi Kings won the toss and opted to bat first.
Currently, Lahore Qalandars are in the first spot on the league table with 14 points. Meanwhile, the Karachi Kings, with only two wins under their belt, are at the bottom of the league’s points table.
Karachi Kings are already out of the title race of the PSL’s eighth edition, as out of nine matches, they lost seven fixtures.
Karachi Kings are playing for pride as they were knocked out of the race of the playoffs earlier in the tournament.
Skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi has been rested for today’s match. In his absence, David Wiese is leading the Karachi Kings side.
Earlier today, in the first match of the day, Peshawar Zalmi beat Islamabad United by 13 runs in Rawalpindi.
The result also confirmed that Lahore Qalandars would face Multan Sultans in the Qualifier of the league.
The winner of the Qualifier will qualify directly for the final. The final of the tournament will be played on March 15, meanwhile, the Eliminator 1 will be held on March 16.
