The UK will also publish an update to its defense, security, and foreign policy, known as the Integrated Review, on Monday, setting out how London will reply to a world of increasing threats. The United Kingdom, the United States, and Australia had announced the AUKUS (Australia-UK-US) plan in 2021 as part of their efforts to counter growing threats in the Indo-Pacific region. According to Reuters, the meeting in San Diego on Monday is likely to decide on upcoming steps for Australia to obtain nuclear-powered submarines.

The UK Prime Minister lauded the AUKUS alliance on Saturday and said such partnerships exemplified London’s approach. He added that in blustery times, Britain’s global alliances are their greatest source of security and strength.  He said that he is traveling to the US to launch the next stage of the AUKUS nuclear submarine program. Under the initial AUKUS agreement announced in 2021, Washington and London agreed to provide Australia with the technology and ability for nuclear-powered submarines.
