OIC Committed to Promote Human Rights, Preserve Dignity: Secretary General

JEDDAH: Hissein Brahim Taha, Organization of Islamic Cooperation Secretary-General, said on Thursday that OIC is fully committed to the promotion and preservation of human rights and respect for human dignity.

Addressing at the United Nations Human Rights Council’s High-Level Segment of the 52nd Session in Geneva, he said that the desecration of the Holy Quran is a reprehensible and unacceptable act that must be condemned by all.

He said that all countries should fight against Islamophobia.

OIC Secretary General highlights other issues

In the face of the Israeli military brutality against the Palestinian people, the secretary general called on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities and take all necessary steps to ensure the protection of the Palestinian people.

He also urged the international community to work and resolve the Kashmir dispute, bring stability in Afghanistan and address the dismal condition of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar.
