WASHINGTON: US officials said on Tuesday that the sensors from a suspected Chinese balloon have been recovered from the Atlantic Ocean.

The suspected balloon was shot down by the US earlier this month. US Northern Command claimed that search crews discovered “debris” including sensor and electronics pieces identified.

White House spokesperson John Kirby said on Tuesday that the suspected objects did not seem to be involved in intelligence collection and could be balloons that were simply tied to research or commercial entities.

John Kirby also noted no company or government has said they were the owners of the suspected objects.
