TOKYO, Japan: Japanese automotive giant Toyota Motor Corporation on Thursday raised its net profit forecast for the current financial year, citing strong demand for its hybrid vehicles and improvements in production and supply operations.
The world’s largest automaker by sales now expects to post a net income of 3.57 trillion yen ($22.6 billion) for the financial year, reflecting stronger business prospects despite continued cost pressures and production challenges.
Toyota said it had managed to limit the impact of rising material prices and production disruptions caused by earthquakes and floods through recovery efforts at manufacturing facilities and the optimisation of its global supply network.
