AMMAN: Jordan’s King Abdullah II said on Monday that Israel’s expansionist ambitions pose the biggest threat to the region’s future, emphasising that lasting regional security and stability cannot be achieved unless Palestinians secure their legitimate rights to their land.
“Israeli expansionist ambitions remain the greatest threat to the region’s future and its hopes,” Abdullah said in a speech to parliament.
He drew attention to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and continued Israeli attacks in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, despite international calls to end the violations.
He emphasised that lasting peace and stability in the region could not be achieved without upholding the Palestinian people’s rights to their land.
Jordan’s King Abdullah II:
Israeli expansionist ambitions remain the greatest threat to the future of the region and its hopes. But people will not forget.
Whoever thinks tyranny grants legitimacy is deluded. Whoever thinks time erases the truth is deluded.
And whoever thinks Jordanians will back down from their principles is also deluded.

“Those who believe tyranny grants legitimacy are mistaken, and those who believe time erases the truth are mistaken,” King Abdullah said.
“There is no place for terrorists among us, neither today nor tomorrow,” the king said, stressing that Jordan would remain resistant to terrorism.
“We will be on the lookout for terrorists and will not allow them to undermine the unity of the nation,” he added.
He reiterated Jordan’s steadfast commitment to its principles, Arab identity and the defence of Arab causes, pledging to uphold this position, as his father had done before him and his son would continue to do after him.

The King also underscored that promoting a unified Arab stance would remain a key priority for Jordan.
Israel has continued its military offensive in Gaza since October 2023, resulting in the deaths of more than 74,000 Palestinians and injuries to over 175,000 others, most of them women and children.
Meanwhile, Israeli military operations and attacks by illegal Israeli settlers have escalated across the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
