RIYADH: The Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen said it conducted an operation on Sunday morning targeting assets used by the Houthis to carry out attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure.

“The Houthis continue their deliberate and systematic attacks against civilians and civilian objects in Yemen and Saudi Arabia,” Official Spokesperson of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen Major General Turki Al-Malki said in a statement.

Houthis using vital resources to support missile and drone programmes

He said it has been established that the Houthis exploit vital resources to support their war effort and enhance their military capabilities, specifically their ballistic missile and UAV programmes, which underscores their brutal and terrorist methodology of exploiting vital resources to fuel their hostile activities.

“In light of the continued attacks, which pose a direct threat to the lives of civilians and the safety of civilian objects, the Joint Forces Command of the Coalition carried out a precision military operation this morning to neutralise vital resources used by the Houthis to execute their repeated, brutal attacks, as well as to threaten the security of the Kingdom, Yemen, and maritime shipping lanes in the southern Red Sea,” he said.

He further said the Joint Forces Command of the Coalition continues to take and implement the necessary operational measures to deter the behaviour of the Houthis and to stop their use of vital resources to support their war effort.

“Furthermore, the Houthis must cease all hostile and brutal operations against civilians and civilian objects; otherwise, they shall bear the consequences of their hostile behaviour,” he added in the statement.

Last Tuesday, the Saudi Cabinet commended the advanced capabilities of the air defence systems and their success in thwarting the Houthis’ repeated attempts to target Makkah, Madinah, and several Saudi cities and facilities.

It said attacks were a grave aggression against the Kingdom’s sovereignty and the sanctity of Islamic holy sites, and a flagrant provocation to Muslims worldwide, affirming the Kingdom’s legitimate right to defend with full resolve the security of the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors, as well as the country’s citizens and residents.

They reiterated their strongest condemnation of continued Houthi attacks and threats against commercial shipping in the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandeb Strait, stressing the importance of ensuring the safety of commercial vessels and their crews.
