LAHORE: Pakistan won the toss and elected to bowl first against Sri Lanka in the final of the Pakistan ODI Tri-Series at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on Saturday.
The hosts will look to restrict Sri Lanka to a manageable total before chasing down the target to secure the tournament trophy on home soil.
Both sides reached the final after eliminating England from the title race, setting up a contest between two teams that have experienced contrasting results against each other during the tournament.
Pakistan previously defeated Sri Lanka by 37 runs in Rawalpindi after posting 305, with Salman Ali Agha playing a crucial role with the bat.
However, Sri Lanka responded emphatically in their subsequent meeting, defeating Pakistan by eight wickets after bowling them out for just 110 runs.
Left-arm pacer Dilshan Madushanka led the attack with an impressive five-wicket haul, claiming 5 for 34 before Sri Lanka completed the chase inside 19 overs.
The contrasting results have added further intrigue to Saturday’s final, with both teams aiming to finish the competition with the trophy.
Pakistan will be banking on their bowling attack to make early inroads, while Sri Lanka will look to build a competitive total and put pressure on the hosts.
With the title at stake and home support behind Pakistan, the Lahore final promises an exciting contest between the two Asian rivals.
