TUNIS: The General Secretariat of the Arab Interior Ministers Council has strongly condemned continued attacks by the Houthis against Saudi Arabia, including recent attempts to target Makkah, Riyadh and the Kingdom’s western region with ballistic missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
In a statement issued on Friday from its headquarters in Tunis, the General Secretariat denounced the repeated hostile acts, noting that the missiles and drones had been intercepted and destroyed by Saudi air defence forces.
The Council said such attacks constituted a blatant violation of the sanctity of holy sites, hurt the sentiments of Muslims around the world, and reflected the Houthis continued efforts to destabilise the region, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Saudi Cabinet commended the advanced capabilities of the air defence systems and their success in thwarting the Houthis’ repeated attempts to target Makkah, Madinah, and several Saudi cities and facilities.
It said attacks are a grave aggression against the Kingdom’s sovereignty and the sanctity of Islamic holy sites, and a flagrant provocation to Muslims worldwide, affirming the Kingdom’s legitimate right to defend with full resolve the security of the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors, as well as the country’s citizens and residents.
