ISLAMABAD: The shooting of Ehsan Akhtar near a sit-in at Kothian in Azad Jammu and Kashmir has exposed the presence of armed elements within the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), as the incident contradicts the committee’s claim that its protest is peaceful.

Ehsan Akhtar, son of Akhtar, a resident of Shaheed Abad in Bagh, was injured by a bullet fired from a pistol by his armed companion near the Kothian sit-in, security sources said. The incident exposed the presence of armed elements within the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), contradicting its portrayal of its protest as peaceful.

Spreading false propaganda on social media to attribute the firing incident on Ehsan Akhtar to the security forces is the worst tactic of the committee leaders to gain the public’s sympathy, security sources said.

Blaming state institutions for the incident without any movement of the security forces in the area indicated the Action Committee’s sinister attempt to malign the state and law enforcement agencies by distorting the facts.

Action Committee leaders, including Aman, Umar Nazir and Mehran, never miss an opportunity to level baseless allegations against the security forces for their personal and political interests, regardless of the facts, security sources said.

Portraying the incident of Ehsan Akhtar’s injury negatively to gain public sympathy is part of the Action Committee leaders’ strategy to destroy regional peace, stir tensions and maintain their political relevance.

This incident is clear proof that the Action Committee has neither a positive agenda nor genuine concern for the public. All their activities are based on false narratives, armed tactics and hostility towards institutions.
