The Ballon d’Or (Golden Ball) is one of football’s most prestigious individual awards, recognising the player judged to have performed best over a season.

The 70th ceremony will take place on Monday, 26 October, at the London Palladium, marking the first time the event has moved outside Paris.

Established in 1956 by French magazine France Football, the award celebrates individual excellence, including players’ performances, decisive contributions, team achievements and sporting conduct.

The anniversary ceremony will pay tribute to England legend Sir Stanley Matthews, who won the inaugural Ballon d’Or in 1956.
