RIYADH: Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen has warned that Houthis are using fishing boats to smuggle weapons and military equipment into Yemen, urging vessel owners not to cooperate with them.

In a statement issued by its Joint Forces Command, the Coalition identified four traditional maritime boats (Za’ima, Huri, Jalbah, and Sanbuq) used by the Houthis to smuggle military supplies by sea.

It said that these operations posed a direct threat to Yemen’s security, as well as regional and international stability, while endangering civilian lives.

“The Joint Forces Command of the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen warns against the Houthis exploitation of traditional maritime vessels in operations to smuggle weapons, missiles and military equipment by sea,” the statement said.

The statement included photographs of the four types of traditional boats identified by the coalition.

Earlier, Official Spokesperson of the Coalition Major General Turki Al-Malki said that a ballistic missile launched by the Houthis toward Riyadh was intercepted and destroyed.

On Sunday, Gulf Cooperation Council foreign ministers called for renewed efforts to ensure freedom of navigation and safe passage through Bab al-Mandeb and the Strait of Hormuz, while condemning continued Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia.
