ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former Australia fast bowler Shaun Tait as the national team’s new bowling coach, replacing Ashley Noffke ahead of Pakistan’s upcoming international commitments.
The coaching change was announced alongside Pakistan’s squads for the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka and the ODI tri-series featuring England and Sri Lanka.
Noffke leaves after 16 months
Ashley Noffke stepped down as Pakistan’s white-ball bowling coach after serving in the role for around 16 months.
The former Australian cricketer was later approached by the Netherlands for their head coach position.

Noffke remained part of Pakistan’s setup during the 2026 Asian Games, where the men’s team reached the final before losing to India and securing a silver medal, Pakistan’s first-ever men’s cricket medal at the Asian Games.
Tait returns to familiar role
Shaun Tait returns to the Pakistan setup after previously serving as the team’s full-time bowling coach. He first took charge ahead of Australia’s historic tour of Pakistan in March 2022 and remained in the role until January 2023.
During his international playing career, Tait represented Australia in three Tests, 35 ODIs and 21 T20Is. Known for his express pace, he has also worked with other international teams, including Bangladesh’s fast-bowling unit.
The 43-year-old had initially signed a one-year contract with the PCB during his previous stint, but his agreement was not renewed following organisational changes within the board.
Pakistan prepare for busy schedule
Tait will join a coaching staff led by head coach Mike Hesson as Pakistan prepare for a busy period featuring the Sri Lanka T20I series and the ODI tri-series involving England and Sri Lanka.
The updated Pakistan team management includes batting coach Michael Smith, fielding coach Mansoor Amjad, strength and conditioning coach Grant Luden, physiotherapist Muhammad Tahir and team manager Naveed Akram Cheema.
