ISLAMABAD: Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) General Counsel Gurpatwant Singh Pannu has said that the Indian government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is using Afghanistan as a conduit for terrorism in Pakistan, while praising Pakistan’s civilian and military leadership, particularly Field Marshal Asim Munir, saying the country is going through “a very golden era” with him in control of the army, militarily and diplomatically.
In an exclusive interview with WE News English, Pannu rejected the view that violence in Pakistan was solely linked to Afghanistan or the Taliban, claiming that Indian operatives were using the Taliban label to facilitate attacks inside Pakistan.

Pannu links Pakistan violence to Modi government
“This is not a violence by Afghanistan. This is not a violence by Taliban,” Pannu said when asked about alleged Indian support for proxies operating from Afghanistan.
He claimed that Indian intelligence personnel and other operatives were being presented as Taliban members and sent into Pakistan to facilitate violence.
“Basically, it is the Indian government,” Pannu said, arguing that Pakistan should focus on what he described as the source of the violence rather than only pursuing Afghanistan.
Calls for US Pressure on India
Pannu urged the United States to increase pressure on India over human-rights violations against Sikhs and other minorities.
He said Washington’s response would depend on its political interests but argued that minority communities needed to raise their voices internationally.
Pannu also referred to planned demonstrations in New York involving Sikh, Pakistani and Kashmiri communities, saying their objective was to draw international attention to alleged rights violations before the United Nations.

Pannu praises Pakistan’s civilian, military leadership
Discussing the 2025 Pakistan-India confrontation and subsequent tensions, Pannu praised Pakistan’s leadership, particularly Field Marshal Asim Munir, for handling the country’s military and diplomatic affairs.
“Pakistan is going through a very golden era with your Field Marshal Asim Munir in control of the army, militarily and diplomacy,” Pannu said.
He argued that Pakistan was in a stronger position to respond to India because of what he described as its military and diplomatic preparedness.
Pannu further said Pakistan should not wait for another Indian attack before responding, declaring, “Your defence is offence.”
Khalistan campaign to continue
Pannu reaffirmed SFJ’s campaign for an independent Khalistan, saying the movement’s central focus was the Khalistan Referendum.
He said the movement had shifted from the violence associated with earlier decades to a ballot-based campaign and expressed confidence that Punjab would eventually achieve independence.
Pannu claimed that by 2047 the present political map of India would no longer exist and said the Khalistan movement would seek independence for Punjab.
Pannun says SFJ is a movement
General Counsel for Sikhs for Justice said the campaign that began in 2007 was now focused on ballots rather than armed struggle.
“We started the campaign in 2007 and at that time the fight was with the bullet. Right now we are using ballot,” Pannu said.
He also called for what he termed the “balconization” of India, arguing that other minority and indigenous communities should have the right to determine their political future.
