Asian Games 2026: China Leads Medal Race as Pakistan Climbs to Six Medals

Pakistan has won six bronze medals at Aichi-Nagoya 2026, while China remains comfortably ahead with 152 gold medals as the Asian Games enter their final stages.

ISLAMABAD: China continues to dominate the medal table at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, leading the standings with 154 gold, 68 silver and 60 bronze medals for a total of 280 medals, while Pakistan has climbed to six medals, all bronze as of October 1.

The Asian Games, being held from September 19 to October 4, feature athletes from across Asia competing in 43 sports, 71 disciplines and 469 medal events. The medal table is ranked primarily by the number of gold medals, followed by silver and bronze.

Japan is second with 51 gold, 77 silver and 73 bronze medals, followed by South Korea with 25 gold, 30 silver and 50 bronze medals.

Uzbekistan occupies fourth place with 16 gold medals, while Thailand, Iran and Bahrain complete the top seven. India is eighth with 10 gold, 22 silver and 30 bronze medals, giving it 62 medals.

Pakistan’s medal count reaches six

Pakistan’s sixth medal came on October 1 when Ghulam Mustafa Bashir won bronze in the men’s 25-metre rapid-fire pistol event. His medal took Pakistan’s officially recorded tally to six, all bronze.

Pakistan’s earlier five medals came from women’s cricket, men’s singles squash, modern mixed martial arts and PUBG Mobile esports. The women’s cricket team defeated Bangladesh by 31 runs to claim bronze, while Noor Zaman and Mohammad Ashab Irfan secured individual squash bronzes.

Pakistan has also secured at least a silver medal in men’s team squash after defeating Hong Kong 2-1 in the semifinal on October 1. The final is scheduled against Malaysia, meaning Pakistan’s medal count will rise again once the team event is completed.

Pakistan’s women’s cricket team won bronze after defeating Bangladesh by 31 runs.

At least Silver — Men’s Team Squash

Pakistan’s men’s squash team has reached the final and guaranteed at least a silver medal.

Pakistan defeated Hong Kong 2-1 in the semifinal and will face Malaysia in the gold-medal match.
