TUNIS, Tunisia: The General Secretariat of the Arab Interior Ministers Council expressed its strong condemnation of the launch of ballistic missiles and drones by the terrorist Houthi militia toward Riyadh and the city of Khamis Mushait.
In a statement, the General Secretariat firmly denounced these cowardly attacks as a flagrant violation of international and humanitarian law. It emphasised that deliberately targeting civilians and civilian objects reflects the militia’s persistent criminal conduct and poses a grave threat to regional security and stability, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The secretariat reiterated its full solidarity with and complete support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in all measures it takes to defend its security, territorial integrity, and the safety of its citizens and residents.
Earlier, the Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen said that Saudi air defences intercepted and destroyed two drones and two ballistic missiles launched by Yemen’s Houthi militia toward the Kingdom early Saturday.
Coalition Forces spokesman Major General Turki Al-Malki said in a post on X at 4 am local time that two drones launched toward the Riyadh area had been “intercepted and destroyed.”
About 30 minutes later, Al-Malki said coalition air defences had also “intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the terrorist Houthi militia towards Khamis Mushayt.”
About 20 minutes later, he said that another missile fired toward the southwestern city had also been intercepted and destroyed.
Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi strongly condemned the terrorist Houthi militia’s ballistic missile and drone attacks targeting the cities of Riyadh and Khamis Mushait in Saudi Arabia, affirming that this grave escalation represents a flagrant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty and a direct threat to civilian safety and regional stability.
Albudaiwi emphasised that GCC member states stand in full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, backing all measures it undertakes to safeguard its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.
He called on the international community to adopt a decisive stance to end these recurrent terrorist attacks and hold the perpetrators accountable.
