MADINAH: Saudi Red Crescent Authority ambulance teams in Madinah responded within 13 seconds to a 70-year-old Yemeni Umrah performer who suffered cardiac and respiratory arrest while at the Prophet’s Mosque.

The ambulance teams provided the necessary medical interventions before activating the cardiac arrest protocol and coordinating directly with the receiving medical facility, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Tuesday.

The patient was then transported to Hayat National Hospital for specialised medical care.

Director General of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority branch in Madinah, Dr. Ahmed bin Ali Al-Zahrani, stressed that rapid response and immediate intervention are crucial in treating cardiac and respiratory arrest and can play a decisive role in saving lives.

He highlighted the high level of preparedness of the Authority’s ambulance teams, which remain continuously deployed in and around the Prophet’s Mosque to provide prompt emergency medical services to worshippers, visitors, and Umrah performers.
